HALF MOON WRECK

Half Moon Wreck is a 47-foot steel yacht that sank off the coast of Key Biscayne, Miami in 1930. The ship lies very shallow making it ideal for underwater photography and snorkeling. The site is subject to tides, at low tide the top of the wreck is only 2 meters below the water surface. Half Moon Wreck is home tot stingrays, puffer fish and lobsters. In the middle of the wreck is a memorial plaque.
Particulars
Half Moon Wreck is located 1.6 kilometers east of Key Biscayne. It's located just outside the Bear Cut, the channel between Virginia Key and Key Biscayne, in one of Florida's archaeological underwater reserves. The dive site features two mooring buoys, one at the bow and one at the stern.
Warnings
Visibility at Half Moon Wreck changes dramatically with the tides. Watch out for pleasure boats. Use a surface buoy if necessary.
